Most-common mistakes on the Red Carpet

On TV and in the magazines, we constantly see stars walking down the red carpet. Oh, but we also see them making so many mistakes! I don’t know what’s going on that celebrities are displaying such bad (and unflattering) behavior??

In any case, here are some tips to shine on the red carpet as a true, glamorous and very chic Star:

1.- Be on time: Extremely important. If you don’t make it on time for the red carpet, you will miss the best part. Red carpet events are usually televised; therefore you as a celebrity must be ready on time and at the disposal of the director. No attitudes allowed. The elegant celebrity always respects schedules!

2.- Get the right look: The outfit of a celebrity must always match the occasion. If it is the Oscars, luxe & sophistication. If it the event is Premios Juventud, younger trends and fun style. As a general rule, “red carpet” indicates major wardrobe, hair and makeup production. This is not the time to leave any details out.

3.- What you never do, ever: Celebrities shine with their own light, out there in the red carpet you don’t need to bring company! Please don’t take your dog with you, or your entire family. Your partner, maybe –especially if it is a public person. And please don’t walk down the carpet while talking on your cell phone or sending text messages. This is ugly, it is rude, and makes you look terribly insecure.

4.- How to deal with staff: Remember famous supermodel Nahomi Campbell? She has been brought before the law a few times for beating up her assistants and throwing cell phones at people’s heads. As an elegant and fabulous celebrity you must treats everyone around you with great professionalism and 5-star manners, especially those on your staff. Make the life of your collaborators easier so they enjoy working for you and perform at their best.

5.- Taking care of wardrobe: The clothing used by celebrities at red carpets, TV shows, photo shoots etc usually is borrowed from designers for promotional purposes and must be returned as soon as the event is over. A 5-Star-Celebrity knows this work ethics and takes great care of all wardrobe handed to her. Unlike our dear Britney Spears, who rumors say cleaned off the oil of her hands (she was allegedly eating fried-chicken) with a Gucci dress she was wearing for the photo session of a well-known magazine. As if it wasn’t enough, same rumor indicates that Brit left the session with about US$14,000 in shoes, clothing and accessories. Of course this is not what we call Chic Celebrity Style…

6.- Handling the media: During press interviews you should never reveal intimate information that belongs to your private life with your couple or your family. Never use your Ex as a self-promotion topic, nor should you use the media to take revenge against him/her. Needless to say, taping a porn video and leaking it to the internet or the press, is, to say the least, a tasteless strategy to call on attention

7.- Treat well your fans: The elegant star must learn to handle the proximity of her fans, their stare, their smile. It doesn’t work to pretend that you are not Don Francisco and look away! You should be able to live with the sometimes invasive approach of your admirers, and do your best to be nice to them at all times

8.- SOS!!! Two exact same dresses on the carpet: What to do if you spot another celebrity wearing the same dress you have on? Don’t leave. Don’t cry. Don’t try to take it off her using violent means or offering cash. Act with naturalidad –it has happened to the biggest stars on entertainment! …and as soon as she passes by take the opportunity to joke about it and even take a picture together
